British playwright Stephen Poliakoff`s acclaimed television play CAUGHT ON A TRAIN probes Europe`s changing social landscape through the transcontinental interactions of three strangers on a train. Peter (Michael Kitchen), an ambitious English businessman on an overnight train trip through Europe, is pleased to find himself sharing a compartment with a beautiful young American woman, Lorraine (Wendy Raebeck). But Peter`s hope for a potential romantic encounter soon dampens with the arrival of demanding Viennese aristocrat Frau Messner (Peggy Ashcroft)--as well as the discovery of Lorraine`s alarming xenophobia. As the trio`s differing worldviews comically collide, Poliakoff`s drama becomes a poignant contrast of Old World tradition and New World modernity.
