Stevenson Lowe (James Spader) and his girlfriend, Julia (Polly Walker), move into a brownstone haunted by an old unhappily married couple (Michael Caine and Maggie Smith). The young woman is hungry for marriage, but he doesn`t want to say I do just yet, especially after seeing the way things worked out for the ghosts. Julia eventually leaves him, and it`s up to these ghosts and the young man to try to get her back.
