In her last film, Tallulah Bankhead portrays fanatically religious Mrs. Trefoile, a psychotic woman who, with the help of her gardener (Donald Sutherland), imprisons her dead son`s fiancee (Stephanie Powers) in a tiny room in her home so that the girl`s soul will be properly cleansed in order to be reunited with her dead husband in heaven. Legendary British studio Hammer produced a script by Richard Matheson, based on the novel by Anne Blaisdell. Considered to be a camp classic in many circles, the film is also regarded as one of Hammer`s best moments.
