A seemingly normal teenager obsessed with ninja turns out to be a true Hokage Ninja transported to this modern world from the past by his mother, Kagehoushi. These first few episodes in this volume track Hanabishi Recca`s path of awakening as his spectral mother introduces him to his ninja powers and mastery over fire. In The Princess and the Ninja - Awakening of the Power! he stumbles across a mysterious girl named Yanagi. When she mysteriously heals his wounds, he declares her his princess and swears to be her loyal Ninja. In Wind and Fire - A Dangerous Seduction, Recca`s friend Fuko discovers that Yanagi has become Recca`s Princess and she is irate that she was not chosen. Recca`s mother organizes a fight between Recca and Fuko (channeling her anger into the power of wind) as a way to draw out her son`s latent ninja powers. The Water Swordsman - The Fang of Revenge shows Recca and Fuko still fighting it out using wind and fire. When it appears that Fuko`s ardor to use wind may be at her own peril, Recca and his friend Domon attempt to save her. Later on, an older student, Tokiya, whose sister was murdered, thinks Recca has something to do with her demise. In The Labyrinth of Mirrors Tokiya is so entranced by the vision of Yanagi, who is spitting image of his dead sister, that he agrees to back off fighting Recca. Elsewhere, bad guy Kouran has found out the girl named Yanagi who has special healing powers. He thinks she might be the key to his twisted quest for eternal life.
