Rick Wakeman The Anthology
N/A Rick Wakeman is a musician with far-ranging talent equaled only by his prodigious output; from session man on records for such illustrious acts as Black Sabbath and David Bowie, he progressed to stardom through his role in the supergroup Yes, catapulting their fourth record Fragile to the top of the charts. He remained with Yes from 1970 - 1974, the pinnacle of their popularity, before continuing on to a successful solo career. He is known for his elaborate compositions and virtuosic style, and on this release he performs live in concert with his English Rock Ensemble, showcasing the intricate rhythms and highly-wrought variations which he first became known for in Yes. These he has translated into a cycle of piano solos, and the electricity and energy produced by the contrast of the piano and the full electric band is astounding to witness; tracks include Ann Boleyn, Make Me A Woman, Journey to the Centre of the Earth, and Close to the Edge.
